After the success of Andrea Marcon's La Merope in the Netherlands, what do we know of Germiniano Giacomelli at the Teatro San Cassiano?
While Giacomelli’s La Merope premiered at the Teatro Grimani di Giovanni Grisostomo in 1734, he did in fact write two operas for our own Teatro Tron di San Cassiano, first Gianguir (libretto by Apostolo Zeno) in 1728 and then L’Arsace (libretto by Antonio Salvi) in 1736.
As a taster for the beauty of Germiniano Giacomelli’s writing, we can share with you Andrea Marcon, Johannes Keller and Ann Hallenberg performing “Mi par sentir la bella”, an aria from Gianguir, taken from our London launch. Enjoy!
